Timothy Root Named Chief Technology Officer of OzVision

OzVision, the leading developer of remote video compression technology for the security, cellular telecommunications and data communications industries, has announced the appointment of Timothy Root as chief technology officer.

With over 17 years of experience in software design and implementation, Root most recently served as vice president of business development and chief technology officer for Polycom Corporation. While at Polycom, Root directed the implementation strategy of the VSX product family. This included the VSX 3000, an all-in-one, high-quality video conferencing system that was named “2004 Product of the Year” by Internet Telephony Magazine. As CTO of Polycom’s video division, Root led business relationships with Microsoft, Avaya and Nortel, and assisted the company in a 50 percent product unit increase, driving revenues to over $300M annually.

In his new position, Root will be responsible for running development teams, guiding OzVision’s strategic technology direction, expanding product and solution offerings and developing strategic partnerships.

Prior to Polycom Corporation, Root held leadership positions in a series of technology organizations. He served as vice president of business development and chief technology officer for PictureTel Communications. In this position, he oversaw the technical direction of the corporation, including the development of PictureTel’s client/server strategy and the subsystem architecture of the iPower,series of products.

Additionally, Mr. Root worked as a software architect for Raytheon Corporation where he designed and implemented modules and Radar algorithms for TI’s TMS320C40 processor.
